Our staff and students here in Birkenhead are celebrating today following the release of an exceptional set of GCSE, vocational, and Functional Skills results.
As an independent special school supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, today’s achievements carry profound significance for us. Many of our learners arrived at Impact North West Schools following prolonged periods of school absence, emotionally based school avoidance, or significant disruption in mainstream settings. When joining us, many were on trajectory to leave formal education without a single qualification to their name.
Today’s results demonstrate the remarkable personal growth, resilience, and transformation achieved when students are provided with the right therapeutic environment, specialist support, and individualised care.
Academic & Vocational Highlights
GCSE English Literature: A clean sweep with a 100% pass rate, with 50% of our candidates securing a strong Grade 5.
GCSE English Language: An impressive 88% of our students achieved a graded result, with multiple learners securing a standard pass (Grade 4) or higher, led by a standout Grade 6.
GCSE Mathematics: Over three-quarters of our cohort (76%) successfully secured a graded result.
Vocational Pathways: 85% of our students achieved a pass in at least one vocational qualification, demonstrating practical, hands-on skills in applied subjects.
Functional Skills: A 100% pass rate across English and Mathematics, establishing core essential skills required for further education and future employment.
Standout Student Achievements

Our students have also secured places on a variety of other outstanding vocational courses, including Animal Care, Automotive Mechanics, Bricklaying, Hospitality, Photography, Plumbing, and Sport.
A Message from Our Headteacher
Jayne Jones, our Headteacher, reflected on the deep pride felt across our whole school community:
"Today is about celebrating far more than numbers on a certificate — it is about the extraordinary journey our young people have been on to get here. Many of our students joined us after months, and in some cases years, out of education. They arrived carrying past frustrations and the genuine fear that they would leave school with nothing. To see those same young people now collecting GCSEs, vocational awards, and Functional Skills certificates is profoundly moving. These outcomes are a testament to our students' courage, grit, and hard work to re-engage with their education. I also want to pay tribute to our dedicated staff team, whose trauma-informed approach, patience, and bespoke care create the safe haven our learners need to rebuild self-belief, flourish, and take control of their futures."
